Job Description

  • Oversees preparation and review of assigned monthly financial reports for senior management and the Board of Directors, and regulatory reporting to NCUA (quarterly “call” reports) and the Federal Reserve Bank (weekly FR2900 report). 
  • Responsible for maintenance of the general ledger system.
  • Ensures all entries are correct and accurate.
  • Audits general ledger as necessary. Supervises the accounts payable function, ensuring payments to vendors and employee reimbursements are processed accurately, on a timely basis, and in compliance with Company policy and procedures.
  • Reviews and oversees annual tangible tax and 1099 reporting process. 
  • Supervises the fixed assets function.
  • Ensures proper set up of assets, disposals, and adjustments.
  • Coordinates preparation of Company capital budget. 
  • Oversees preparation of and reviews CUSO financial statements, reports, and general ledger reconcilements. 
  • Manages personnel activities of assigned staff.
  • Hires, trains, coaches, appraises, and rewards assigned staff.
  • Responds appropriately to employee complaints and issues.
  • Responsible for advancement and disciplinary matters of staff, and recommends termination when necessary.
  • Assigns work and delegates responsibilities to staff and monitors progress to ensure department goals are met.
  • Cultivates strong working relationships and builds trust among team members. 
  • Coordinates schedules, activities, and other information required for external and internal auditors and NCUA examiners. 
  • Prepares various cost analyses and projections.
  • Develops and implements report writer reports. Assists with developing and implementing long term and short term business objectives.
  • Interprets and assists with implementing management policies for the department. 
  • Assists with regulatory compliance to ensure that all work is completed in accordance with applicable laws and government regulations. 
  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of current trends, laws, and issues affecting area of expertise. Attends educational events that will increase professional knowledge and be otherwise beneficial to the Credit Union.
  • Completes annual BSA/AML Compliance Training and understands employee’s role in maintaining an effective BSA/AML compliance program, and completes FACT Act Red Flag training. 


Requirements and Qualifications   

  • Bachelors in Accounting
  • 7 or years progressively responsible work experience in the Accounting field, preferably with a financial institution and to include previous supervisory experience
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and analytical skills in order to effectively manage and attain goals set for area of responsibility. Must deal effectively with competing and changing priorities and meet deadlines. Accurate and detail-oriented. Able to resolve difficult problems and situations.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of products, services, policies, as applicable to the Accounting Department.
